Come hear local author M. Lynette Hartsell read from her recent work, “Stanly Has A Lynching”. Through deep research of a family legacy involving her great-grandfather, Ms. Hartsell unravels how religious, political, and social institutions have used ballads, fiction, and folklore to celebrate, rather than condemn, the brutal lynching of a white man, Alexander Whitley, in 1892. Books will be available for purchase.
